Everyone asks, "What inspires you?"
| Their texture, patterns, and colors weave their way into my art. Most of my work right now is glazed in sea blue, emerald green and a wonderful cream glaze that has an occasional touch of nutmeg brown. |
Growing up I sewed a lot of my own clothes so I think it is natural that those skills have transferred over into the work that I do in clay. Using porcelain stamps and small clay rollers with designs I have carved on them, I impress thin slabs of clay into a quilted design. These slabs are then cut up and folded into the shapes that I want; bowls, mugs, pitchers like these three stacked bowls. | ![]() |
I also throw on a kickwheel and frequently use underglazes to paint designs on my pottery.
